What does "Corndance" mean?
The Corndance Café celebrates and honors the
traditions of the Potawatomi Indians. The original inhabitants
of the Culver region, the Potawatomi Indians were exceptional
farmers. Their secrets of farming, as well as the songs
and myths and legends that accompanied them, were guarded
by the tribes' women and passed from mother to daughter
in the cornfields as they worked the land together. As
with many Native American tribes, the Potawatomi Indians
gave thanks to their gods and made requests for many
bountiful harvests through ritual corndances. Today,
the Corndance Café celebrates these traditions.
The Café features an eclectic cuisine made with
only the freshest ingredients from the land. |
